How to Dress Up As the Joker

How to Dress Up As the Joker

The Joker is one of this saga's most charismatic characters from the Batman movies or comics. His white face and his crooked smile are reminiscent of an evil clown, and it's horrifying. There will be few who have suffered nightmares because of this character. Above all, if, as it happens to me, you do not have a special appreciation for clowns. I still remember how bad it was when my parents took my sister and me to the circus because I felt sorry for the poor animals and the terror that the clowns made me think of. The IT movie, based on the novel, showed me that I shouldn't be the only person in the world who hasn't found these sad and awkward characters exactly endearing or funny.

The Joker and his possible variants

If you want to make a costume that catches everyone's attention, you just need to read this post to know how to do it. This idea can be used for both children and adults, and you can also make a female and somewhat evil version of this terrifying character if you want. Although if you feel like it, you can give it a certain sexy touch that enhances your femininity.

It is ideal for Halloween celebrations or carnivals. However, it can also inspire you to throw a themed costume party in your own home, for example, of the most terrifying supervillains from movies or comics in history. You can find more ideas in The Big Bang Theory series, where its protagonists prepare more than one celebration of this type in many of its 9 seasons.

Let's not waste any more time, and let's start!

Instructions to dress up as the Joker

Step by step to make our Joker costume

  1. Let's start with the easiest: clothes. We are going to need suit pants of a neutral color. A gray or dark shade will work perfectly. If you do not have suits, you can wear the typical Chinese or any pants made of canvas. If you are a girl, you can wear black leggings.
  2. Wear a matching shirt. Ideally, it should be a light color without a pattern, for example, white.
  3. Get a vest with green tones. If you don't have any, you can make a custom one using green felt. You will find this product in any party supply store or typical Chinese neighborhood.
  4. Put on a purple jacket. I know it's a bit of a hard color to come by, but I'm sure you can find some in places.
  5. It's time to start with the makeup. Clean your face well and protect it with a moisturizer before putting on makeup. Once absorbed, the next step is to paint your entire face with white makeup to disguise. Remember not to apply it perfectly. If you look closely, Joker's face looks washed out. You can help achieve this feeling by making faces while applying makeup, so the wrinkles don't turn white.
  6. When you already have your entire face painted, you can start to make up your eyes in an intense black color. Paint from the eyebrows on top to the eye sockets on the bottom. Follow the shape of your eye and turn it into something extreme. Use your hands to spread the paint to make it look even more decadent. In this way, the appearance of your costume will be much more glorious.
  7. To finish, use red on the lips. Once you have this makeup, extend a line outside the corners to the cheeks. This way, you will create that characteristic Joker smile that reminds you of a kind of open scar.
  8. It's time to fix our hair. If you have it a little longer, leave it messy and greasy. You can use hairspray or make a kind of dreadlock. Once done, use green colored hairspray. These sprays are not permanent. In fact, they are effortless to remove with water, so don't worry. It's best to have someone spray it through your hair to create weird streaks of green.
  9. If you have shorter hair and want your costume closer to the image of Joker from the movies, you can buy a wig in shades of green and black.
